Hyde Harris The want of an establishment such as the on-now propose l to he constituted has long been felt, not only in Otago, but throughout the Colony of New Zealand. The promoters of this Company in seeking the support of the general publi do so with the utmost confidence, as from their experience of the large profits accruing from the trades to be followed in the manufacture of the article* to be sold, they feel assured that the project will prove one not only of monetary benefit bat of generrl good, as an additional 100 1 industry will be established which will in a comparatively short time grow into a most extensive manufactory. Ihe object of the Company is to supply the Colony with locally manufactured furniture of a quality to equal any yet imported from the Homo markets. A largo number of our local youths will, under the verj best workmen to be obtained, be employed, Woods from foreign markets will be imported ; but the woods of New Zealand, many of which are eminently adapted for the manufacture of every description of furniture, will be largely used. The promoters wish to call special attention to the fact that the profits derived from the I manufacture and sale of the articles to be made are incredibly, large in some cases extending to 10f» per cent.; they thereto e feel perfect confidence in assuring the public of the undoubted safety ef the undertaking and with economical and judicious management, very handsome returns on the capital invested may bo confidently expected. It is proposed to take over at a valuation the steam factory of H. J. Bacon in Cumberland street, which has power suitable for the business. These premises will in the first instance form the manufactory. Centrally situated premises in the city will be established, where will be the show-rooms an i warehouses of the Company. Of the amount of valuation to be paid for the pn raises, the vendor agrees to take the onehalf in paid-up shares. It is needless to say more in favor of the undertaking; the matter is left in the hands of the public, who cannot fail to see the many advantages to be derived therefrom.
