■ , . , London, August 7. The celebration of the Centenary has commenced at Dublin. There was an immense attendance, the religious element preponderating. Several foreign bishops and Ultramontane and German deputies were present. At tfce Ministerial dinner at House, Mr Disraeli said- he was confident of the maintenance of peace if the foreign policy was conducted with prudence and firmness. He also said that the Government felt the necessity of developing and consolidating the Colonial Empire by assimilating the interests and sympathies of the Colonies to the Mother Getmtry.
The O’Connell banquet at IRriSSf* was abruptiy closed, owing to dissension caused bv the Home Rulers. 3
Catholic demonstrations have been held in England and Scotland, and a riot occurred in Glasgow between Orangemen and Home Rulers. .
