THE CAVERSHAM ELECTION.

To the Editor. Sir, - Your contemporary, the ‘Otago Guardian,’ has given a local in this morning’s issue that in all pre-liability Mr Larnach will be a candidate for the vacr.-ucy in the Caversham District, and follows it up by stating: “ He would not go up to the Assembly as the nominee of any clique or party, but as a thoroughly independent member, weighing each question on its own merits, and its own merits only. For these, and many other reasons, we trust lie will be enabled to waive personal considerations.".] Should he do so, there is but very little doubt as to his return for the Caversham district.” The assertion that Mr Larnach would not bo a nominee of any clique is as absurd as it is false. Ist. Any candidate now standing for the Assembly must be required at once to state to the electors which side he will take in Colonial politics—either Centralist; or Provincialist. Now, sir, as I know' Mr Larnach is a squatters’ agent, and a thorough cutralisb, ; land as this question is one that should be'veil discussed by the electors before they sell their birthright like of old Esau did for a mess of pottage. I hope no man holding the. strong squatting and centralist views of Mr Larnach will be returned on this occasion.—l am, tkc. , Barnard Isaac. Duncdiu, Ai’guA 13.
