PORT CHALMERS WATER SUPPLY.
To the Editor. Sir, —In justice to me (as to tho report of the Port Chalmers Town Council meeting in yours of the 10th inst.) perhaps you will be pleased to insert the following. Campbell says he furnished me with the drawings for the pipes, and ascertained that they had not been ordered; but the truth is that it was only last Friday week when I got the drawings. Next to this, there is Mr Blair’s exposition, recommending, &c., &c. He has never corresponded with me in connection with the work in any way, but knows full well why the works are not being prosecuted : the weather, for instance; the want ot drawings for the pipes ; short payment on account of works, &c., &c. ; but. hav ing been lax in his duties, for which he is well paid, he now attempts to throw the onus on my shoulders.—l am, &c , Wm. P. Pearce, Contractor. Dunedin, August 11.
