WASTE LAND BOARD.
The u'ual weekly meeting of the Waste Land Board was held to-day; present— The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Bastings, dutt rworth, and Strode. Messrs '-Plies and street, for Mr Alex Chalmers, applied for a pre-emptive right on run 254. Application to bo made to th« i district Land Office- at Clyde for an agricultural lease. The District Land Officer at Naseby forwarded a petition from settlers at Hyde requesting that a road may be laid off through section 6, block 3, Bock and Pillar district, a~d referred to the Thief Surveyor. Mr G. S. Brodrick, on behalf of himself and others, surrendered coal leases at Pre nervation Inlet, and requested the favorable consideration of the Board in regard to his a pplication made on April 22 last. The Provincial Solicitor to bo asked to get a lease signed in each case. Messrs Gillies and Street, for Mr Ritchie Oraigio, applied to occupy section 49, block I. Claendou, to plant forest trees under clause 169. The land applied for was an island in the Taieri Kiver The Board had orevionsly dec’ined to consider applications for these islands.
Mr H. L. Squires requested that c ections 1, ;iO, 31, 57, and 58, block 4, Table Hill dstrict, might be offered for sale. Reused. The report of the District Land Officer at jawrance was read on the application of Mr Robert Ferguson t ■ purchase his agricul- - lease area at Manuka Creek. Thr* •pplicant wished the rent which he had paid to go towards his purchase money. Reoived that the rent be paid up ; after tha he Bard are af opinion that the Govern nent should favorably consider the re uission or return of the rent. Mr Paul Frederic asked that his applica tioa for section 69, block 1, North Harb u and Blueskin district, may be extend d t' embrace about fcriy five acres, having tbi road line Bas the centre boundary. Sectioi 69 to be sold first.

Government again to be asked to co aider applicant's claims Mr Mouat, on behalf of himself and colessees, requested the Board to exclude tr •’h'Trio’s name as one of tha lessees of lands at Preservation inlet for a fishery. Mr ■ruit explained that Mr Sherrin, who was connected with the * Wananga ’ a Maori paper published at .Napier, had, although frequently communicated with, refused to forward his assent or dissent to the appli cation. Mr Strode pointed out that the Board could not grant t e application ex parte The Board resolved that it had no power to deal with the pplicatum. Mr Driver applied on behalf of Mr Boyce for pre-emptive rig t of ten acres on his run at tho Woolshed. Referred to District Land Officer for his advice.
