RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

Wednesday, August 11. (Before J. Bathgate, Hjsq., xv,M.)

H, Prince v. R. M. Frederick.—Claim L 53, on two dishonored cheques. Judgment was given for plaintiff (for whom Mr Sinclair appeared) with costs Begg and another v. S, P. Hutchison.Claim L 7 3s lOd for goods supplied. Mr Denniston appeared for plaintiff, for whom judgment was given by confession. Same v. Augustus Coates,—Claim L 8 6s Id, goods supplied. Judgment for plaintiffs with costs.

B. Wilson and Co. v. Patrick Mallard.— Claim L 34 4s 6d on a dishonored cheque. Judgment for plaintiff with costs. John Ulveiiy v. Oscar Lewis.—Claim of Ll I6s Mr Lewis appeared for plaintiff and applied for costs, the amount sued for having been paid into Cuurt without notice. Half-a guinea professional costs was allowed.

Waterworks Co. v. Alex. M‘Donald.— Claim of L2 10s, water rates. Defendant had tendered the amount claimed, but declined paying the hearing fee. Judgment for plaintiffs with costs.

John M‘Neil v. Wm. Parry.—Claim of L 3 3s for goods supplied. Defendant, who appeared to be under the influence of liquor, admitted the debt. Judgment was given for plaintiff, his Worship remarking that defendant ought to feel thankful that he had not been committed to gaol for contempt of Court. Defendant pleaded that he had been very ill. Begg and Another v. A. Solomon.—Claim of L 4. Half a guinea professional costs was allowed, judgment having been confessed without notice.

Judgment was given for plaintiffs, by default, in the following cases, with costs Charles damson v. John Thomson, L2 16s 8-1, for coal supplied ; Thomas Carr v. \V m. Dawson, L 6 10s, for goods supplied. Pneumatic Gold Mining Company v. John G°x.—Claim L2 10s, call on shares. Mr Lewis appeared for plaintiffs, for whom judgment was given, with co ts.—Judgment was entereu by default in a number of other c*ses of a like nature against W. H. Hasket, J. Blater, Edmund Elliott, Alf. Moore. Fred. Jeffrey, W. Fames, and > obert Kirk, jun.
