THE ABOLITION QUESTION.

To the Editor. Sir,— ls it not strange that the electors of Dunedin should show indifference to all subjects materially affecting their welfare? A most vital measure, viz., abolition of Provinces, is now being discussed in the House of Representatives at Wellington, and not a public meeting has yet taken place here to ascertain what views we hold. As one having perused the General Government proposals, and given them careful consideration, I may be pardoned for taking this opportunity of suggesting that the best form of government in New Zealand would, in my humble judgment, be a Provincial Government for each Island, and a Fedeial Parliament—the latter to adjust questions applicable to the whole Colony.—l am, &c., Watchful.
