Hyde Harris The want of an establishment such as the on now propose I to be constituted has long been felt, not only in Otago, but throughout the Colony of New Zealand. The promoters of this Company in seeking the support of the general puilD.do so with the utmost confidence, as from their experience of the large piofits accruing from the trades tr> be followed in the manufacture of the articles to be sold, they feel assured that the project will prove one not on’y of unmet iry benefit but of gonerr 1 good, as an additional loc 1 industry will be established which will in a comparatively short time grow into a most extensive manufactory. 'Che object of the Company is to supply the Colony «ith locally-manufactured furniture of a quality to equal any yet imported from the Home markets. A large number of our local youths will, under the ver> best workmen to be obtained, be employed. Woods from foreign markets will be imported ; but the woods of New Zealand, many of which are eminently adapted for the manufacture of every description of furniture, will be largely use 1. The* promoters wish to call special attention to the fact that the profits derived from the manufacture and sale of the articles to he made are incredibly, large in some oases extending to 10 • per cent ; they therefo e feel perfect confidence in assuring the public of the undoubted safety of the undertaking and with economical and judicious management, very handsome returns on the capital invested may be confident y expected It is proposed to take over at a valuation the steam factory of H. J. Bacon in Cumberland street, which has power suitable for the business. These premises null in the fust instance form the manufactory. Centrally situated premises in the city will be established, where will be the show-rooms an i warehouses of the Company. Cf the amount of valuation to be paid for the pr raises, the vendor agrees to take the onehalf in paid-up sh res.
