MINING INTELLIGENCE.
(From our Exchanges.)
Tho nows from the Skippers reefs continues good ; in fact the stone from tho Phoenix claim is said to be improving:. It is also reported that riouthberg and party have struck stone in their lower tunnel. S'hotov.>r Terrace Com puny s shares arc Poking up, notwithstanding that t ie Dunedin directors have neglected to publish Messrs Spence und Johnson’s report on the proposed water-race scheme. We (• Mail') have been m formed that a gentleman well acquainted with tho claim bough). I,( 00 shares n>i° ( 'k) lrr hut the pi ice dm not transpire. I.ie -New Channel Company is also growing in favor, notwithstanding the obstacles it lias had, and still has to contend with, in the way of working. Next summer, it is anticipated, the claim will turn out well. __ At Moonlight the last paddock washed by Kaue and party turned out well, and in the wash a large quartz boulder came to light which was strongly impregnated with g l l; so much so that it was broken up, and the gold obtained therefrom put in along with that which they obtain from sluicing. This ought to prove to miners that, there are quartz reefs containing gold in the immediate vicinity, which might require very little outlay to ie j discovered. The Molyneux is now at a low level, and the various parties who are paddocking along the
river are busy at work. Noble, Paget, and Co., at Frenchman’s Point, have bottomed on good w sh, and should the river keep down they will be well repaid for their trouble.^ In the Tuapeka district the prospects in the North of Ireland Claim arc improving in the drives, and work will now be pushed on vigorously. The Otago and Nelson Companies are both Working away continuously with excellent results. Wat- r is plentiful for the slu'cing claims at the Spur, and the sluioers are kept busily employed. It is reported that Mr Thomas Logan re* oeutly received an offer of L 15,000 for bis share in the Bendigo reef, Cromwell, but the offer was refused.
