WASTE LAND BOARD.
The usual weekly meeting of the Waste Band Board was held to-day; present— The Chief Commissioner (in the ch .ir), Messrs Bastings, Butt rworth, Clark, and Strode. T ho following was the principal business transacted :
Mr George B. King, on behalf of Mr A. M‘Donald, of Dunk- Id, applied that one acre opposite Stonewall streer, and block 4. tion 22, block 7, Waitahuna East District, stating that the sections had been the receptacle of tailings and fouled water from the gold-workings above, and recommending that the grant for those eections should be restricted so as to give no rights to the owners against miners using and polluting the river in terms of clause 5, section 54, Waste Linds Act, 1872, if there is power to do so. survey Department to be asked to make a mining reserve of sufficient breadth along the river banks. Mr William Jackson Barry tendered to conduct Crown land salec in the Queenstown district at half per cent, commission. Bead for future consideration when a vacancy occurred.
The government requested to be informed of reasons for having blocks 4, 5, and 7, Table Hill, and 5 and 10, Waitahuna East district, surveyed into sections and opened for sale, 'they also requested application fo reservation of section 11, block 8. Crookston district. The Covermnent to be informed that the Board wish these blocks surveyed, because there are numerous applications for the same, and the Board desires to see the land which is non-auriferous occupied by bond fide settlers. The Government to be informed that the application was a persona), one by Messrs Oeagh and Howatt, a depu: ation from chc Tapanui Progress Committee.
The District Officer at Lawrence requested information with regard to the sale of block 1, Tuapeka West aud Beaumont, containing about 1,000 acres. Government to be recoinmender, to survey it before opening bloek for «a e present advertisement to be with-, d rawu.

The District Land Officer, Lawrence, sent letter of Mr James If. M'lntire, containing a request that service of notice to uplift license for deferred payment section in favor of Mr Hugh M‘Lennau be deferred till he returned to the country. It was resolved that the Board cannot agree to the proposed arrangemeut.
Reconsideration of draft case as amended by the Provincial Solicitor, re lands of special value in Heriot Hundred to be submitted to the judgement of the Su reme Court uud-r clau-e 6, Waste Lands Hoard Act, 1867. Referred to Mr Strode and the Ohio Commissioner to confer with Mr Stout and settle upon the issues. Mr D. Mailoch'a request that theßjard w uld grant a company twenty-one years’ lease of the Waikouaivi lagoon at a nominal rent, with the view of draining off the water and otherwise improving the locality, was declined.
