A NUISANCE.
To the Editor. Sir, — I crave a small space in yonr paper to complain of an intolerable nuisance which proceeds from the Soap Works, in the north end of George street. To-day the stench was some thing dreadful; I can only compare it to the effluvia which proceeds fromVputrefied animal matter. My family are suffering from the effects. Surely this is a matter which demands the attention of the Inspector of Nuisances Now that the City has become thickly populated, the time has arrived when soap works and others of a kindred nature should be iemoved a considerable distance outside the town. I, for one, strongly protest against tl e abominable nuisance; and trust—now that public attention is drawn to the matter -the residents of the north end of the town will use their utmost endeavors to have this “ disease dep6t ” removed.—l|am, &c,, Tides, Dunedin, August 2,
