RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Monday, August 2. (Before J. Bathgate, i'.aq., 7\.A.)

Joseph Evans v. J. Lynd.—This was a judgment summons for L 5 9s 2, for board and lodging, &c. Mr Joyce appeared for the plaintiff. —His Worship ordered the defendent to pay L 3 at once, and the balance by instalments of 10s per week, or, in default, thirty days’ imprisonment. The order was made after his Worship had elicited from defendant that he had L 3 in his pocket. John Chaplin v. Alex. Stuart (law clerk). — Claim, LI for coach hire.—Judgment was given for plaintiff, with costs. Same v. George Christie (Green Island). — Claim, L2 8s for goods supplied.—Judgment for plaintiff, with costs. George Dodson v. George Thomson.—This was a judgment summons for Lis 2s 6d for hire of horses and buggies. Mr Joyce appeared for the plaintiff.—His Worship pronounced an order for the payment of the money before August 9, in default defendant to be sent to prison for twenty-one days. Defendant in this case did not appear. _ Judgment was given by default for the plaintiffs in the following cases, with costs :—Mattheson Bros. v. Alexander M'Gregor, L 8 2s, for goods supplied; James Patterson v. James Smith, L 4 7s 6d, for board and residence ; Dick v. Woodrow, LB, for stationery supplied. George Warnock v. Johu Kemp (Caversham), claim of L 15125, cartage.—Mr Denniston apdeared for the plaintiff, and Mr E. Cook for the defendant, who paid L 8 12s 9d into Court in full satisfaction of the claim. —Judgment was given for Ll3 14s, including the amount paid into Court.
