A RELIC PROM THE SCHILLER.
Under the above heading the following interesting item is published in the Kirkcudbright hire ‘Advertiser’ of May 14 : On Tuesday last Mr Davidson, Chief Constable, Kirkcudbright, rtcived by post a letter, the envelope of which was much mutilated anti ©pen. It bore the post-mark “ Dunedin,” and was addressed via San Francisco, but the postage stamp was washed off. Inside was a letter from James Taylor, some years ago a constable in the Stewaitry Police Force, now chief messenger of the Dice ric Telegraph Department, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand, and a post office order for five pounds—to be given to_ certain local institutions. The letter has evidently been in the sea, as the writing was much defaced and the paper had a salt taste. The advice of the post-office order has not yet reached Kirkcudbright, and may have been lost, but the money, as soon as got. will be distributed according to the wish of the donor.
