The Judge directed the jury that the verdict must he for plaintiff, and after retiring for three,-quar'ers of an hour they returned a verdict for one farthing damages. Queenstown, July 22. For the Mayoral election Mr Warren was defeated by fifteen votes. He attributes his defeat to the stuffed roll and mendacious statements. The nomination this day for councillors was a very tame proceeding. Mr Cash was elected for Lake Ward and Mr Tully for South Ward, without opposition. Mr Pritchard’s election as Mayor of Arrowtown is popular here. The weather continues very open. We shall soon rival the Cromwell escorts.
