Beautiful Star sailed for her usual trip to Lyttelton via Timaru last night. The s.s. Wangauui took her departure from the railway pier this morning for her usual trip to the Bluff.

Messrs Houghton's s.s. Express arrived from her southern trip at 7.30 this morning. She left the Bluff at 5 p.m. yesterday, and hnd light winds to arrival.

The brigautine Seagull, for the Bluff, having received a now windless and repaired other damage done during tho late gale, sailed this morniug from the old jetty with a light S.W. wind. The S.W. gale having moderated enabled the following coasters to take their departures :—Jano Hannah and Nau<ilti3 for Oamaru, Glimpse for Moeraki, and Christina for Au:klaud.

The barque Albyn's Isle was towed up to her auchorage yesterday afternoon by the tug Geelong, after a rough passage from Geographe Bay, which port she left on the 10th June. Shortly at'ter leaving she encountered a heavy gale from the westward, owing to -which she was unablo to get round Cape Naturalist, and was compelled to run back to the Bay, when it was found necessary to throw overboard some of her denli load in order to lighten the vessel. The weather having moderated, she took her departure on the 25th, rounded Cape Leuwin the next day, experience! east tmd south-east winds until the 30th, crossed the meridian of Tasmania on the 7th instant, and mode the Solauderd on the 11th, on which day she encountered a terrific gale from the westward and was compelled to heave-to. The gale increased to a perfect hurricane, during which the furled spfls were blown to ribbons, and heavy neas were shipped which carried awny water and harness casks. On the morning of the 12th bore up under bare poles for Eoveaux Straita ; same afternoon s«t the foresail, and passed Dog Island at 9 p.m., making the Heads at 8 p.m. on the 13th. She reports that the barque Jane Spiers, with a cargo for this port and Wellington, was expected to leave on the 26th June.
