The last \ canard manufactured in Wellington, and retailed in Dunedin by the branch estaba pledge that the present loan would meet all estimatedengagemenfcs, and sufficient to carry hshment, is:—“ Before undertaking our late loan Rothschild required from Sir Julios Vogel on till the end of 1877 without further borrow*^BKP 8 Vogel gave a list of Colonial liabilities, Jfjßch Dr Reatherson, on its being referred tffiHKjn, declared to be incorrect—it making, amWfgat other things, no provision for emigration beyond the end of the present year. It is believed that the present stoppage of free immigration Mb owing to the pledge given Rothschild, and an attempt to reduce expenditure to a minimum, so as if possible to prolong the expenditure of the present loan till the end of 1877,”
