Auckland, June 25. The barque Comet, which left Dunedin for Hobart Town in February last, and has not been heard of since was insured in the Standard Company, Auckland branch, for L 2,000. Arrow, June 25, Very rich quartz specimens have been shown from the Phosnix Tributers reef, which averages ten feet in width, and is now proved for over sixty feet in length. Fresh claims have been taken up for two miles on the line of reef. A miner? named T. C’arline was killed by a fall of earth, while sinking a prospecting shaft on the beach at the Sandhills, Shotover. His mate narrowly escaped while trying ineffectually to save him.
