THE SPIRIT CURE.
To (he Editor. Sir, —I think “ Freundschaft ”is correct in not responding to tbe questions of “ G. W. C.,” for those who have given the subject of spiritualism but a trifling attention know full well that the most detailed answers to such questions would fall short of satisfying some people. Many of the members of the Dialectical Society, previous to commencing their investigation, did not credit rakny of the truthful reports then current, but after subjecting the matter (to a thorough investigation they were ready to concede that such reports were substantially correct. It is to “ G-. W. C.’s ” credit that he does what he can to stay the circulation of superstition and bigotry, but he will sooner attain his end by subjecting the matter to a rigorbdS idvestigation. I am inclined to conclude, from the nature of his questions, that spiritualism is a subject he has not yet studied. In the meantime “G. W. C.” cannot go far astray if he merely credit that “ Freundschaft ” has a wife, and that she was at least ill; it may then be left to an “unprejudiced public to consider what are the usual means people employ in cases of sickness. These were found wanting; but the circle was acquainted with the nature of the complaint, and possessed of medical knowledge for the occasion.” . j The very “ weakly nature ” of the young Jajw student calls for public sympathy. It is to be regretted that the studies of such an aspiring youth should have been interrupted; but being restored to “ robust health,” I would advise bis friends to fry and dissuade him of the idea;of getting his name bracketed with Kenealy aiid Chaffers, for it is manifest that unless the bfflnt of his “ weakly nature ” gets diverted h>« name will bo finally bracketed with Bill Summers’s. —I am, &c,, ; INVESTIGATOR* Dunedin, June 12.
