The Registered Office of the Company is to be established in the township of Milton, in the Province of Otago. The objects for which the Company is estab llshed are for the purposes of manufacturing and selling all kinds of Stone, China, Printed. Painted, and Enamel Earthenware ; also, every description of Salt Glaze Stone Pipes, Chimney Tops, Sewer Pans, Fire Bricks, Tesselated Pavements, and Telegraph Insulators, and to do all thihgs the Company, from time to time, consider to be incidental or conducive to the attainment of its objects,- or otherwise for its benefit. , The liabilities of the Shareholders are Limited. The Nominal Capital of the Company is L 30.000, divided into 12,000 Shares at L2 10s tech. THE success which has attended the esta blishment df the Mosgiel Woollen Fao tory under the provisions of the Joint Stock Companies Act, and the greater facilities and extent to which such undei takings can be condhetfed By a Company as compared'with a private individual, has led to the project of the formation of a Company, with a view to the purchase ofrthe Tokomairiro Pottery Works, Bow owned by Mr W. M. White, and conducting the manufacture of Pottery and EarthenVnure upon' a scale somewhat commensurate Vrith thel-vfge market presented in New Zealand and the other Australian Colonies, this being the . only Pottery Work established in the Southern Hemisphere, The present works were commenced by Mr W. M. White about a year ago, since which time he has disposed of over L 3,000 worth of Salt Glaze Pipes. alone, the market for which is steadily on the increase, and beyond the present producing powers of the establishment. During this period Mr White has also devoted a # considerable portion of his time and attention to the preparation of the necessary buildings and plant for the manufacture of all classes of Staffordshire Pottery Ware upon the most approved principles and latest improvements in machinery used in Staff out shire, and recognised as the best and most economical in the world. The property is situated in the Centre of Milton. Mr W. M. White has now ready for mark large supplies of saleable articles for gener and domestic purposes. The present time i therefore, considered by the projectors of th Company the most favorable opportunity f( entering upon the possession of the works, ar pushing the manufacture and sale of Potter ware in this and the adjoining Colonies. A estimate of the nature and extent of the avai able market may be arrived at from the fa that the value cf such imports into New Ze land alone for the year ending December la amounted to L 70.000, of which Otago alone it ported L 22,000 worth of pottery ware. The promoters have every confidence ths they will be enabled to supply the whole Col nial market with any article m pottery ware j a figure sufficiently low to compete successful] with the Home article, while securing a lar£ margin of profit to the Company, who bar secured the services, as manager, of Mr Che ham, for thirty years proprietor of one of tl largest English Potteries, and practically a qnainted with the various processes adopted i every branch of the trade. The services of tl present staff—of over thirty thoroughly exper enced hands—brought from the Staffordshii Potteries direct, and now engaged upon tl works, have also been obtained. The projectors have agreed with Mr W. ]V; White to take over the Freehold Property, coi sis ring of Three Acres of Land surrounding tl present centrally situated Works (secured wit to their future development), and tl largo and substantial buildings, with plant an stock, at a valuation estimated at, or abou L 7,000, including the General Governmei bonus of L3OO. The amount of goodwill est mated at L 2.000, Mr White has resolved to vest'in the Company in paid-up shares to i amount, so confident is he in the bona fides < the undertaking in the hands of a public Con pany. The projectors have also seemed froi Mr White his right obtained from the Genen Government to remove clay from the lands a< joining the line of railway between Tokomairu and the Olutha, which clay is allowed, by con potent judges, to be equal to any found i .England for manufacturing purposes. Tl Government are now forming a siding to the: day pits, which are inexhaustible. The pn iected branch line to the Tokomairiro coal fieh hasr also been surveyed to pass in front of tl , premises, the works will be in railwa communication with he raw material, with m limited and cheap coal supplies, and with a po: > of shipment ; as also with the metropolis an the larger townships of the Province likely 1 form good markets for supphes. The projectors appeal for support with evei confidence to the residents of Tokomairiro ar the settlers of the County of Bruce genera 11 ’ as the establishment of this industry hasalreac tended.greatly to develop the resources of tl • district in opening up clay and coal mines, et ploying a large amount of outside labor in pr curing -and carting timber, coal, and clay su plies; while the recent unexampled prosperii of the township of Milton has been greatly a vanced by the presence in its midst of the larj number of employes—men, women, and chi dren—engaged upon the works, and whi< ' would be greatly increased by a larger propri , tary possessed of increased capital to carry ( the works to every advantage. The promoters also confidently, bring tl enterprise under the notice of the gener public of Otago, as it is a well-known fact th nothing so tends to advance the prosperity of country as the establishment of local iudustri within its borders, thus preventing the expo of capital from the Colony for supplies of ever day requirements. Apart from these consid rations, the enterprise of itself promises to an amply remunerative and successful one. T prpjectors, having given the matter in all i aspects every consideration, have great pic sure in placing the Company in the marki ■ andbelieve it will prqye jevery way wprtl ■ oLpuySc qqd co-opetatjye suppoi Forms of application may be obtaiped fro Mr Capstick, Broker, Milton;or 1 Mr I George capstick.
