THE PENINSULA RAILWAY.

In the Provincial Council this afternoon, Mr rohnie gave notice of the following motion, which he will move to-morrow : “ That inasmuch as the construction of a lino of railway to the Ocean Beach and Otago Peninsula w t °u ld be of great advantage to the inhabitants of Dunedin and suburbs, and to a large number of settlers in the Peninsula district, this Council recommends that in the event of the General [Government 1 ) not being in a (position to carrygout the undertaking, the General Assembly be respectfully requested to agree to the passing of a Bill authorising the construction of the line in question by a public company, in such terms and under such conditions as the Colonial Legislature may prescribe,”
