The weekly meeting of the Board was held on June 9; present—The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Bastings, Clerk, Reid, and Strode.

Mr J. H. Reid, for Messrs Goon ell sad. Moodie, applied for a lease of bosh land north of his present application' in block 2, Clarendon. Messrs Stewart and Doughty, for Mr W Barrett, applied fojr alease of lfiO acres of bush for Raw-mill purposes, to. the north-east of Mr J. H. Reid’s area at Clarendon. Smith, the euccest-ful balloter for section 25, block 5, Gfeenvale, asked to be al Wed to purchase It, as 1 being too limited for personal occupation; or else to have his deposit refunded. : Government to be recommended to refnnd the deposit. I Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr ft. B. Williams, applied for the Board's decision as to bis application for a site for a mail stage 1 stables in the village reserve, block 6, Waipahee, granted ; the road to, the quarry not to be stopped. ’ MrT. Cotter applied for a partial lease of country south of run 459. To be assessed and then put up to auction on the usual terms.

The Naseby D L.O. forwarded Mr J. Black’s application to purchase ■ his agricultural area at Naseby. Deferred lor the report of Chief Surveyor. Mr J. Brown applied for a lease of eight sieres of land for lime-burning, adjoining stations 1 and 25, block 4, Mid-Wakatipu. Referred to D.L.O. for advice.

Mr MoUat, for Mr J. Shackleton, of Waipori, asked that his claim be considered £«r compensation as a lessee of section 24, block 4, Waipori ; and of section 17, block 17, Tuapeka East. Referred to Government with a view of valuation being made. • Mr Robert Williamson objected to section 31, block 17, Balclulha township, being sold otherwise than by auction, as he'is desirous of purchasing ic. To be sold by public auotion.

Mr J. G. Hungerford applied to occupy an acre of land on the south side of Gatlin’s River; he also asked if he should (as ranger) issue a timber license to Mr J. Tuck. Referred to Ranger Hugban, with whom Mr Hungerford is in future to aot as assistant, and to whom he is to address himself. A memorial was read from miners and residents at Naseby in reference to the sale of land there under residence area certificates. Action deferred until the arrival of Chief Surveyor’s report. Messrs Gillies and Street, for Messrs J. Wain and Co., applied for a license for Mopotaki Point, Purakanui. Granted under clause 161.

Mr A. Bathgate applied for a site for a pound at Berwich. Granted udder clause 161.

Mr Sims applied on behalf of the Waiporl Road Board' with rofgrenoß to reservß seotibn 29, block 2, Maungafcau. To be sold by auction at the upset price of Ll Is per acre. Mr Sims applied for bush reserve part of section 47, block 1, Maungatna. Banger to report;

_Mr Denuistoun applied for a lease of the Mataura Falls mill site for the Invercargill Papermaking Company. Granted under section 81 of the Act, with material guarantees satisfactory to the Board that the work will be gone on with at once; also, that should the ‘work bo a failure, or stop for one year it be competent' to annul the lease or fix a rent by arbitration. The rent was fixed at the same figure as the Kaworau Falla mill, Mr Clark dissented from the decision of th« Board.
