A rbtukn has been furnished, showing the amount of rent payable on agricultural, mining, and deferred payment leases and licenses in the various goldfields districts in the Frovinqeof Otago for the year ending March 31, 1876. The very large sum of £22,395 has been credited to revenue from these sources. Kent from agricultural leases reached £9,251 5s ; from 'pastoral leases on Wakatipu and Tuapeka commonages, £8,093; from deferred payment leases, £3,002; from joining leases, £2,049. Analysing the statement, Queenstown returns most revenue; but solely owing to the leases from pastoral tenants. Next comes Tuapeka, returning nearly as much in agricultural lease rents as all other districts put together. Next
Danstan district (including Mount Benger, I Biacks, and, we suppose, Cromwell). Arrow J aud Naseby are next, with a difference of I only £44 between them; and, lastly, Switzers andDuredin. Receipts from these sources will 1 be very much swelled during the present year, principally owing to the large increases in land take iup fo settlement. In addition, to tb’S, a large quantity of land will be laid', under contribution, which, not having been, earlier surveyed, has not yet been paidfforr r although enjoyed to a limited extent.
