AMUSEMENTS.

THE PRINCESS'S. “ Leah the Forsaken ” was played last evening to an excellent attendance in all parts ef the theatre; and but for the very unsatisfactory manner in which the part of Rudolph was filled, the representation would have been very creditable. As it was, one of the principal characters was so incapable that the audience, indulgent at first, could not tolerate it; and the final scene was marked by pretty general hissing, which brought to the footlights Mrs Hoskins and afterwards Mr Keogh, with explanations. We trust never again to have to witness anything so discreditable; and it pains us exceedingly to say what we have. THE QUEEN’S. The Fakir of Oolu came out last night with a holiday progiamme, which completely satisfied his large audience. Miss Sylvester appeared in a new act; and the Messrs Sylvester performed some pretty movements on parlor skates. THE DRILL-SHED. The members of the Loyal Dunedin Lodge, M.U. I. O. 0.F., celebrated their thirteenth anniversary last right by a concert and ball at the Head-quarters Drill-shed, Bro. P.P.G.M. Woodland occupying the chair. Songs were given By Messrs Marsden, Sherwin, Taylor, and others; recitations by Miss Whittingham and Mr Bracken, and clog-dancing by Messrs Wilson and Hannagan. Master Bayley played two pianoforte solos in first-class style, and Mr Smith one on the concertina. Dancing was commenced after the concert and was spiritedly kept up by some sixty couples till an early hour this morning; the music being supplied by an excellent band under the leadership of Mr C. Sykes. In the course of the evening the Chairman explained the state of the Lodge’s affairs, saying that they had now over L 2,000 in hand and a large membership, and that °ince the establishment of the lodge over 5,000 members had been initiated.
