Mearos, Vice-President of the D.C.0., having been called to the chair, explained the object of the meeting; and Mr D K. Rhodes read the letter of Mr L. Goldsmiih, which has been published already, and a letter from Mr E. Gregory, of Sydney. From the date of the latter, March 12, it was apparent that Mr Gregory had taken up the ide a before anything definite had been settled in Melbourne; and hm action resulted from a conversation he had had with a Dunedin ci icketer who happened to visit Sydney. Th* proposition of Mr 1 urfcon, “ That in theinterests of cretet it is desirable that an intercolonial match between New Zealand and Australia be arranged, * was cordially agreed to by the meeting, but an opinion was expressed by some gentlement that substantial support by the public would be materially influenced by the knowledge whether the proposed match would be a friendly one or one merely for speculative purposes. It was incidentally mentioned that GldO had been promised towards the expenses of an intercolonial match. The following gentlemen were appointed a committee to confer with the other Provinces and Melbourne regarding the proposed match :-Messrs Beal and Meares.
