DEONKrNNiss.—John Bone and William Feehlau were each fired 6s, in default twentyfour hours’ imprisonment ; James and Robert Hardy, 10s, or forty-eight hours’. Vagrancy. —Catherine Murray, for soliciting prostitution in Princes street, was fined L2, in default, one month’s imprisonment. Breach of the Peaoe. —John Douglas and ’ . M‘Williams were charged with fighting in Princes street. Douglas was discharged with a caution, he merely having acted in self defence, and M‘Williams was fined 20s, or thirty days imprisonment.
Fraud. —Alice Carroll, fourteen years old, was charged on the information of Walter Prictor, bootmaker, with obtaining from him on May 13, by meftns of on* pair
of boots of the value of 8s fid. The false pro tence consisted in prisoners having got the hoots on the statement that they were for the wife of Captain Laurell.—Prisoner was further charged with obtaining a pair of shoes, of the from Robe.t Ihomsoii, and with obtaining a waterproof cloak, of the vahie of 17s 6d, from Messrs Herbert, Haynes, • means of false pretences, to both of which charges she pleaded guilty.— The Bench said that had there been a proper place in the gaol they would have considered it their duty to send her there, but seeing there was no such provision they would have to com mit her to the Reformatory for twelve months. Before she was committed there she would be sent to gaol for one week, the governor of the gaol to see that she was kept apart from the other criminals.
Alleged Ram.—Peter M‘Gregor (66), was charged on the information of Constable Hen derson, with committing a rape on the person of Alice Douse, nine years old, at Hampden on May 14. On the applioation of the police prisoner was remanded to Oamaru, to appear there on Monday next.
