Messrs Webb and Pulton, the agents here for the Kanieri Lake Water Raee Company, are in receipt to-day of a telegram from the managar of the company, announcing that the race will be formally opened to-morrow. It was expected that the race would be completed and in working order at the beginning of the present month. The delay has been occasioned by the necessity for timbering the last portions of the race, a necessity not contemplated by the engineer, but made manifest when the water was turned into the race. The manager reports that the prospects of the race are very good.
