A meeting of the committee of the Arrow Miners Association was held on the 17th inst • I «“ elloId e r at Whitechapel hj lat (Mr P. Zenn) having applied to purchase bis lease, it was resolved to oppose the same. It was stated that L 5,000 of gold had been, taken out from ten acres alone by and on the same level, while a water-race subsidised by Government for L6OO had been brought on to the locality, Crown Terrace. A letter from Mr B HalUnstem was read, stating that the Government intended to take some action with these lands, and asking for suggestions to prevent “J W the m ' ai °B interest. On the motion of Mr Symonds, it was resolved—“ That the Government be asked only to lease the Crown ierrace for a term of years without anv purchasing clause-whatever,” and the same course was recommended in Kein’scase. The following resolutions were also agreed to “ That claims could be taken up by miners on said leased ground on payment of from Ll to L 3 per acre. That said leased lands could b« entered upon to cut races, prospect, See., on pay“®nt of compensation for actual damage only.” That orchards, homestead*, and buildings of any land on these lands should have the same protection as in the case of residence areas. “Thata reserve be decline iof the known furileronß groundalong thefront of the terrace.” That the Central Association be made acquamted with the whoie case.” Re a memorial to Wilson Gray, it was proposed by MrSymonds. seconded by Mr J. F. Healey, and resolved—ihat this Association request the Central Committee to initiate a subscription limited to Is each among the miners of the Province for the erection of a suitable memorial to the late Wilson Gray, Esq., District Judge, and to ask the permission of bis relatives to be allowed to place it upon his grave, m the event of their refusal the money to be devoted to a scholarship or to some charitable institution.” It was resolved that a general public meeting be called for th ■ 24th inst. on above matters.
