a . . April 21. A case of importance to members of Road Boards and ratepayers was beard on the 19th inat. at Outram, West Taieri, before Mr J. Fulton. A. Armitt, collector for the North Taien Ihstnct summoned W. Stevenson for LB 14s for road rates for 1874-5. Mr Cook was counsel for plaintiff, and Mr J. H Harris for the defendant. It appeared from the evidence that the defendant was a member of the Road Board; that a general rate had been struck and levied of one shilling in the pound on aU rateable property in the district; that the defendant disputed the rate on behalf of himself, and this case was brought as a test one for other ratepayers in the Wangateri sub-di-viMon. Mr Fulton reserved his decision.
