RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, FORT CHALMERS.

William Sadler v s Captain Gillicham, master of the barque Flem- de Maurioe.--Claim of L 26 10s. Mr Joyce for plaintiff.—lt appeared there had been a verbal agreement between defendant and plaintiff by which the use of an engine, including- driver, coals, and water, was to be supplied at the rate of 30s per day. After the termination of this agreement he supplied defendant with blocks, &c., the latter required, and while they were in use one of the sheaves was broken, and other damage done which defendant refused to pay for.—John Mills, stevedore, gave evidence as to the correctness of plaintiff’s charges.—Defendant stated the agreement was intended to include engine, blocks, and all necessary gear. The time he acknowledged to have used the engine was eight days and a quarter.—The Bench gave judgment for the plaintiff for L2O 10*, together with costs.
