. . , Auckland, April 10. •An inquest was held to-day on the body of the infant of a laborer named Barton, whose wife, the mother of the, child,'has been mentally afflicted for the last twelve years. - On rhursday, in a state of restlessness, she turned her sister-in-law out of doors,'-using strange menaces and threats. A short *imo after, within the space of a hour, Barton’s little girl, who had been playing with other children, came in doors, and found her mother in bed, with a newly-bom dead baby on the floor. The inquest was adjourned tall the mother was able to attend.
