Yet it is so; and she was preent at the Rev. Charles Clark’s late lecture there on the works of the popular novelist who made so great; a favorite of pretty and wuful Dolly Varden, the locksmith’s , We onl y hope that all the Mails statements may have a better foundation than this one. The person who FritiwS n h ii r ll ; knOWQ P icture by Mr hrith of Dolly Varden was not a girl at all, and was, unfortunately, confined to a sick bed during the whole of the Rev. Mr Clark’s recent visit to Blenheim. Strange as it may seem, the original of Dolly Varden is now a man well advanced in years. Perhaps the question may be some day answered, but at present, while knowing some of the not uneventful circumstances of bis life, we are not disposed to give him to ■ P u bhc gaze.— ‘ Marlborough Express.’
