Mercer reports for tin week ending 2nd April, Xetail prices only: Fresh butter, In half auc. one pound prints. Is 8d to Is 9d per lb: fresh •> hamps, Is 7d ; powdered and salt butter, m6dto Is 8d per lb. There is a great demand for fresh butter, and the market is at present barely supplied. Salt butter in kegs, little or nothing doing, hut sellers asking Is Gd.per lb. Cheese, of the best quality, Is per lb. Side and rolled bacon very scarce and in good demand at Is 2d to Is 3d per lb ; k &ms Ter y scarce and much asked for at Is 4d *° l3 er : English hams, Is 6d to Is 8d per lb eggs still continue scarce, and are retailing at 2s 6c per dozen. 9 (By Telegraph.)

Melbourne, March 27. —The breadstuffs market assumed a letter tone, and prices axe firmer, mieat, 4s 9sd. For oats, 4s 8d to 4s 9s is paid. Liquids ore a little better. Hennessy’s case, 30s (id. Teas and sugars are without noticeable alteration A meeting of the creditors of H. Smith and Co., drapers, Ballarat, has been held. The liabilities are unstated.
