CITY POLICE COURT.
Thursday, April 1. (Before V. Pyke and A, C. Begg, Esq#,, Drunkenness.— James M'Qill was fined sb, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. Neglected Child.— Frederick Gray (10), Catherine Mahoney (12), Bridget O’Brien (12), and Timothy O’Brien (eight months) were charged with being neglected children, baring been found sleeping in the open ah.—They were all sent to the Industrial School for twelve months.
Theft. —john Grant, formerly a distiller in the employ of the Distillery Company, was charged with stealing a quantity of spirits, the property of O. R. Howaon, his employer, on March 27. —The charge was further remanded till Saturday. LARGENT ah a Bailee.— Thomas Weir was charged, on warrant, with haring, at Christchuroh, on March 15,1873, being the bailee of 300 oomaacka, the goods and chattels of Robert William, feloniously and fraudulently converted them to his own use or to the use of some other person other limn the owner thereof. —Detective Henderson, who arrested accused at the Water of Leith, said that he had no doubt from the description given that Weir was the man referred to in the warrant.— Accused was renianded to Christchurch.
Trespass. —Tiie adjeumed charges against Lucy Broeks, Margaret Buahten, and Haanah O’Brien of trespae&ing on the old Immigration Barracks, were dismissed, the whole of the women having left tlie place, as ordered by the Bench.
