ELECTION FOR THE MAYORALTY.
< To the Editor. Sin,~l am informed on good authority that a candidate is already in the field for the honorable office of Mayor of Dunedin for the ensuing year; and I am informed, moreover, that said candidate is, even at this early stage, busy canvassing for votes. Now, sir, I think it is premature on the part of ratepayers to give any pledges of their votes at present, as other gentlemen will doubtless come forward in due time, and then, but not till then, will the citizen* have an opportunity of Judging as to whom they should place in the oivi# chair.—l am, Jtc., Oucnor. Dunedin, March 31.
