Any horse loosing can be claimed, .with his engage* ments, for 200 sovs, added to the amount of the stakes; the owner of the second horse having first claim, and the others in order, the winner having last claim. At the start all got off with the excep tion of “ onnambula, who reared and stuck at the post till the otheis had gene thirty lengths, thus losing anv show she h4d in the race. Bothwell led past the st.nd, Elfin King second, Spritsail third ; but the two latter soon deprived Bothwell of the had and raced round together—the oolt keeping bis head in t rout and running on the inside. Atthe three-quarter mi e post, Batty was riding pritsail, Und Elfin King still retained his advantage ; but when Jsalf-way up the ■traigbt the mare slipped into the inside l' -'Ce. and for a moment looked like wino ng. t gave only a fa;ee hope however, to her backers, for Kae let out the colt, aod.h'' shot vi a winner by a length and a half, -j ime 2min 14sec.

After one false start a good one was effected, Barwon, Wild Manx Boy, and King Philip leading, but all the horses pretty well together, Tompleton lying about the centre. Very soon, however, the Cup winner was seen to forge ahead and go to the front, Wild Manx Boy stickmg to him for a little, King Philip a length or two behind, next—the rest tailing out. Coming upjthe straight the King had improved his situation a little, and Tadmor was coming up; but despite all Batty’s efforts Templeton came in an easy winner by a clear length and a half. Tadmor was a poor third, Wild Manx Boy fourth, the rest all abroad, old Barwon acting as whipper in. Time. 2mm. 23sec. Selling Race, of 50 sovs. Entrance, 3 sovs. One mile and a-half. Weight for age.
