The Mayor of Dunedin is gazetted a member of the Central Board of Health, The members of the Oamaru Mechanics’ Institute, by a majority of twenty-seven hare decided to open that institution from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The Invercargill Road Board having decided to obtain a report on the sanitary condition of the district, Mr Warnock, one of the members, has a fear that the Board will degenerate into a set of old midwives. While here and at Oamaru, Capt, Underwood, of the Albion, started a “Gothenburg relief fund,” to which ho and his officers subscribed L 45, and the passengers about L 5, while the subscriptions he obtained in Dunedin and Oamaru brought the total up to over Ll6O.
