Monday, March 15. (Before Messrs J. Birch and A*. Mercer, Esqs., J.P.’s)
Drunk «nness. John M‘Kinsey, Henry Dickson, and Alex, Wilson charged with this offence, were let off with a caution ; James Horseburgh was fined 10a, with the option of twenty-;our hours’imprisonment. Obscene Language.— Martin Taylor, for this offence, was fined 20s, with the option of forty-eight hours’ imprisonment, neglected Child. —Annie Maria Ho.ley. ten years of age, was charged with being a neglected child—Sergeant Hanlon stated that the little girl was step-child to the man Horley, sentenced a few days ago to two and a-half years’ imprisonment; and that the mother was in the Lunatic Asylum. The child hj d been staying with a Mr Dowdel, a laborer, living off F.lleul street, and on learning th ;t the father had got into trouble he turned the child out. he then found her way to Pine Hill, to the house of Mr Searle, who kept her till Sunday morning, and then communicated the facts to witness! Oa going to the place this morning he found that Mr Searlehad turned her out in such a way that the police might find her. The Bench sent her to the Industrial School for five years, and ordered her to be brought, up in the Homan Catholic form of persuasion.
