Despite odds having, at the outset, been offered against them the Press team stands a first-rate chance of defeating the Warehouseini nin one innings. The latter, in their first on Saturday, put together only 81, D. K. Rhodes being the only one who got info double figures, while the Press totted up 141, Allen contributing 47, Aris 34, Little 11, and vrl‘m 18. The fielding on either side was far from first-class, but the Press pul ed well together, and Glen bowled for them capitally. At the other end of the Oval the citizens showed Big ns of vitality but unmistakeable want of practice. There was a scratch match between sides chosen by Messrs F. M. Coxhead and G. W. Geddes The latter’s team made 64. W. Morrison getting 23, and Thompson 10; while the other side obtained 68 with the loss of seven wickets, Sutcliffe contributing 29, and R. Morrison 10.
