RAILWAY PASSES FOR SCHOOLBOYS.
To the Editor. Sir, —ln your issue of last evt ning I noticed a. letter written by a correspondent under the nom de plume of “ Fairplay.” who justly com plained of the Government’s allowing a free ticket by rail to pupils attending the High School from a distance, and withholding that privilege from private schools. Does the Government wish to crush private enterprise altogether by handicapping it in this manner? If not, let them adopt “ Fairplay V’ suggestion, and deal out equal justice on all sides, and let them, at the same time, beware that this privilege is not abused in many ways. By doing as “Fairplav” suggests, they will prevent this abuse, and thus verify tbe truth of the old adage, “Competition prevents imposition.” By inserting the above you will greatly oblige yours, &c., • _ Justice, Dunedin, February 20.
