News from other places, where the deliveries have been earlier, will, however, afford some guide as to the rates likely to rule. From information placed at our disposal we (‘ North Otago Times ’) are in a position to state that millets in Christchurch, who had been giving at the first opening of the season 3s fid for wheat, have dropped prices to 3s, and sales of parcels (one of 10,000 bushels) are noted at that rate. There is, however, an indisposition to operate to any great extent at that quotation, the impression being that wheat is more likely to recede than to advance. For oats, the ruling price at present in Christchurch is 2s Od, but it is doubtful whether that rate will bo maintained. New flour has been offered in that market at LlO. At Timaru, farmers are offering new grain at about Christchurch rates, but the extra cost of shipment checks operations.
