The Dunedin, from Port Chalmers, arrived at Gravesend on December 21, and the William Davie, from Invercargill, at Gravesend on December 2. The departures for Port Chalmers were—Light of the Age, from Now York, on December 1 ; from Liverpool, Kedron, 373, on December 13; from London, Mallowdalc, 1.380, on 1 December 17 ; Rangifceiki, 1,233, ou December IS ; Wellington, 1,340, on November 2S ; and from Glasgow, Oamaru, 1.192. on November 20. There were loading--At London : Andrew Reid. 790 : William Davit*, 810 ; William Truing, 793; ami Wemington, BS2; and at Glasgow, the Timaru, 1.300 tons. The Edwin Fox, from London for Wellington, lost an anchor and seven fathoms of chain in the Downs on December 6, during a very strong wind. She was supplied with others in lieu, and left for her destination on December 10. She again put back on the 13th with lose of anchors. The Fritz Reuter, from Hamburg, for New Zealand, was passed by the Dragon (steamer), off Borkum, with loss of foreyard and foretopgallantmast. The Cape Sable.—On December 5 Messrs T. Wingate and Co,, Whiteinch, launched from the shipbuilding yard a fine iron sailing ship, named the Cape Sable, for Messrs Abram Lyle and Son, Greenock, of the following dimensions Length, 230 ft; beam, 37ft; depth, 23ft; of 1,513 tons 8.M., and classed A 100 at Lloyd’s. This vessel is chartered by the New Zealand Government to take out emigrants from London, and from her clipper model is expected to make a fast passage. The Timaru.—On December 9 Messrs Scott and_ Co., Cartsdyke, Greenoek, launched from their shipbuilding yard a. sailing vessel of 1,300 tons register, named the Timaru. She has been built for Messrs Henderson and Co.’s line of packets between the Clyde and New Zealand, and is the eighth vessel of this size built this year for the same firm.
