Invercargill Handicap, of 70 sovs., with a sweepstake of three guineas added ; second horse to receive ten sovs. out of stakes. Distance, two miles. Mr White's Atlas i Mr White’s Lyndon 2 Mr Morris's Stackpole ... 3 There were six started. This event was from the first considered a certainty for Atlafe, but there was a good race. Selling Race, of 25 sovs. Mile and n-half. Weight for age. The winner to be sold by auction for L 25 immediately after the race : any surplus to go to the race fund. Young Leamington 1 Atlanta 2 Digger 3 Rufus and Young Mahratta also started. The winner was bought in by the owner for L 27. ■ Consolation Handicap, of 15 sovs. For all beaten horses during the meeting. Distance, once round the course. Little 1 bin I Stackpole > 2 This was the race of the day. It was won by a short Lead.
