Samson sailed this morning for her usual trip to Oamaru The schooner Spec and brigantine Kate Brain passed up to Dunedin this afternoon. The ship Wildwood, for Newcastle, was towed to sea last evening by the tug Geelong. The Harbor Company’s s.s. Maori arrived Alongside the ship Auckland early this morning from Lyttelton, via Timaru. The ship Waitara was taken into the Graving Dock this morning, Avhere she will discharge the remainder of her iron, and be cleaned and her bottom re-coated with anti-fouling composition. The s.s. Ladybird Avas taken out of the Graving Dock last night and removed alongside the railway pier, where she commenced to take in cargo. She sailed this afternoon fur the Northern ports. The brigantine Eliza Mary which arrived at the Heads on Sunday and came to anchor off the pilot station, sailed up this morning with a full cargo from Melbourne, which port she left on the 3.ith of January. She spoke the threemasted schooner Falcon, which wished to he reported, having had a rather long passage from Moeraki owing to a continuation of heavy •N.W. and westerly gales. Last evening the signals at the Heads announced the arrival of the barque Chancliere, also with a cargo of Yankee notions from New York, part of which is for this port, the remainder being for Wellington. The (Jhand;Are is a fine barque owned by Messrs Shaw, Saville, and Co, and consigned to Messrs Dalgety, Nichols, She left New York on the 20th of October; crossed the equator on the • 3rd of December ; passed the island of Tristan d’ Acunha on the 25tb, and the meridian of the Cape on the 3rd of January; made the Snares on the 7th inst. with a fine S.W. wind, which continued until arrival at the Heads. The Dutch barque Catarina arrived yesterday afternoon Avith a full cargo of Yankee notions, part of which is for this port, the remainder being for Lyttelton. She left New York on the 28th of October, ard crossed the equator on the 27th in long. 31 W. ; the S.E. trades were carried to hit. 27 S., long. 34- W., and were lost on the 18th of December; passed the meridian of the Cape, and rafi down her easting between the parallels of 45 to 48 deg.; on the Bth of January encountered a heavy gale, during which a sea broke on board which carried away pait of the cabin skylight and half filled the cabin with water; made the Snares on the 6th of February, had variable winds and thick weather along the coast, and arrived at the Heads yesterday afternoon.
