SAILORS’ HOME.

A meeting of the Committee was held today. The Chairman (Mr Walcoti) said the sub-committee had bean through the testimonials of the various applicants for the post of master, and came to the conclusion to recommend three men, but were unable to decide on anyone, their merits being very nearly equal. They, therefore, left it to the meeting which of the three applicants— Captains Gawn, Kckhoff, andFarnie - should be elected. The person appointed should be distinctly informed that his election was not for any definite term, lut that it depended on the success of the institution. This would cause him to throw his whole energies into the concern. Captain Eckboff was elected for six months, subject to a month’s notice at the close of that time.
