Business during the past week has been rather flat, most probably owing to the month being near its close. As this is the usual course or the commercial tide, we look for more activity next week. The market is fully stocked with sugar, and nothing has been done towards bringing the last two cargoes into the market. The teas by the Amur are turning out fairly, and are being placed rapidly at satisfactory prices. In beer and porter the market is overstocked, and prices are nominal. Spirits are not materially changed in value. HennessVs brandy continues firm at 30s in case, and bulk fetches 9s 6d. Whisky is in good demonth and prices are unchanged for the bettor qualities Geneva is firmer at 13s 9d. There is a slight alteration in oilmen’s stores, so far as r defies are concerned ; they are in short supply and prices are higher. Eleme and sultana raisins are scarce, and 6.|cl for the first, and 7d for the sultanas are readily riven • muscatels, Is. Candles are held for full prices’ holders refusing to take less than 10id. In quoting them at this price, it is necessary to state that it is for candles of full weight for the trade should be made aware that parcels of light weight candles are in the market, which as a matter of course, are saleable at lower prices. Kerosene is coming forward freely and is being placed at 1s 6d for Devoe’s. In dairy produce the market is scantily supplied; in fact the country seems completely cleared of hams and bacon, several large orders for which are on hand, which cannot be executed. Cheese is purchaseable at b£d to B|d. Butter, 11 Ad Corn-sack,. r\re moving freely at 12s 3d to 12s od.
