. Tapanui, January 29. • The weather is glorious, but the attendance small. Only three horses accepted for the Tapanui Jockey Club Handicap. Traitor was scratched for it at eleven o’clock this morning, leaving Mr CoorabesV two to get first and second money. For the Hurdle Race, Unknown was favorite, Bismarck being next in demand. Handicap Hurdle Race, of 40 sovs;;. one mile and a-half; over six flight of , , hurdles, 3ft Girt high. Nomination 1 sov ; acceptance 2 sovs. ’ Kildare (Cotton) 1 Dido (Monaghan) ... ... ... 2 Unknown and Bismarck fell, and both riders, James Malone and A. M*Kay, were stunned. Tapanui Jockey Club Handicap, of 100 sovs, with' a sweepstake of 4 sovs: second horse to receive L2O from the stakes. Two miles. Nomination, 2 - , sovs ; acceptance, 2 sovs. Flying Dutchman ... 1 Right Bower ... ... ... ... 2 Dutchman and Right Bower cantered round! for this event, Flying Dutchman coming in first. Flying Handicap, of 30 sovs, with a sweep of 1 sov added ; one mile. Nomination,! sov ; acceptance, 1 sov. Flying Dutchman ... .:. ... 1 Envy ... ... ...ti "... 2 Somnambula ... ... . ... ... 3 Bismarck ... 0.: This was. a splendid race up till 20 yards from home, when Flying Dutchman came away an easy winner by two lengths.- Time, imin 51secs. January 30'. Thomas Monaghan was disqualified, for pulling Color-Sergeant in. the Hack race yesterday, from ever running on the Tapanui course. The horse was also disqualified.
