DEATH FROM TYPHUS FEVER.
A man named Claffey, an immigrant recently arrived in the Colony, died from typhus fever, at Kensington last night. It appea s that he had been suffer-ng rom th« disease for some months, and that the polici : ried to pr- vail on his friends, hut wichont avail, to hj ive him removed tw the Ho'-pita 1 , immediately on hearing of the case. On tin night of the 21st ins l . Dr Sort-y was called in, and found Claffey in a very distressed state. The doctor requested the patient’s friends to have him removed, aud the place thoroughly fumigated, with a view of preventing the spread of the disease, but finding they refused to do so, Dr Sorley reported the matter to the City Health Officer {'dr Cole), but that gentleman was not able to interfere, as Kensington is cot under his j nrisdictioa. Claffey died shortly before twelve o’clock last night. When he was visited by Dr Sorley there were three children living in the house.
