Late Advertisements. Dunedin, 15th January, 1875. TO WILLIAM BROWN, Esq., Secretary to the _ “ Imperial Building and Investment Society,” Dunedin. SIR,— We hereby request you to convene a Special General Meeting of the Members of the Imperial Building and Investment Society, for the purpose of altering and repealing some of the present Rules if the said Society, as sot forth in the following resolutions : First.—lnstead of the word “ First ” in the last line of Rule 2 there shall be substituted the word “ Last,” and instead of the word “ First ” in the fifth Hue of Rule 11 there shall be substituted tho word “ Last,” and instead of the words “First Friday in October” there shall be substituted the words “ Last day of December. ” Second.—Rule 8 shall bo repealed, and instead thereof there shall be substituted the following words, viz. “The Directors are empowered to receive money on deposit or otherwise at such rate;; of interest as they shall from time to time deem advisable, provided that they shall not contract for money at any rates of interest which shall not leave at least one per centum per annum clear profit to the Society.” Third.—Rule 37 shall be repealed, and there shall be substituted the following words and figures ; “ Redemption Payments for the loan of LIOO, including interest: — “From the 31st day of December, 1874, all valuations of tho Society’s past loans shall he calculated as if the same had been lent out under the above table, and those who were members of the Society on that date shall thereafter participate equally with any new members in the annual profits so to be ascertained.” Fourth.—Rule 3.1 shall be altered, so that the following shall be the first words thereof, viz. : On the 31st day of December in every year (including the year 1874).” The words “ once in every year,” in the first line of said Rule, shall be omitted ; and instead of the words “ interest nor. exceeding ten per cent, on,” in the twelfth and thirteenth lines of the said Rule, there shall be substituted the words “ the profits which may he placed to the credit, of.” And the words “between the investing and borrowing members,” in the twentysecond line ; also the words “or repayments,” in the twenty-fourth line of the same Rule, shall he struck out.

Fifth.—Rule 9 shall be repealed, and instead thereof there shall be substisuted the following words and figures, viz. :—“For seven years from the 31st tDy of December, 1874, a sum equal ninepence for every pound standing at the credit of each member’s account on the Sth day of January, 1875, shall be deducted from the profits which may be placed to the credit of his or her account at the end of each year, or such other sum as shall be found equitable when the profits at 31st day of December, 1874, shall have been ascertained. The amount so to be deducted shall lie called the equalising charge, and shall not be payable on any subscriptions due after the Stli day of January, 1875, but shall be calculated as if all subscriptions had been paid up to that date. In lieu of the said equalising charge, members may, as of 31st December, 1874, or at the end of any subsequent year, have the then value of the said equalising charge placed to their debit in one sum, and the aforesaid charge shall thenceforth •ease to be deducted. 1 ' Sixth.— Ilule 52 shall be altered so that between the first and second lines thereof there shall be inserted the following words, via, : —“Subject to the reservations in these rules contained,” and so that after the word ‘■‘ami,” at the end of the fifteenth lino, there shall be inserted the words “ provided that a sufficient number of new shares shall have been taken np to warrant itand so that after the word “otherwise,” in the eighteenth line, there shall be inserted the words “but no member will be allowed to withdraw any shares until the equalising charge in respect of such shares shall have been redeemed and so that after the word “ paid,” in the last line, there shall be inserted the words “ nor interest allowed on any subscriptions received prior to the 3Jss day of December, 1874. Applications for withdrawal made prior to the Ist day of March, 1375, shall not exempt the members making the same from liability in inspect of the equalising charge.” Seventh.—lnstead of the words “a reduction of four per cent, per annum,” in Rule 7, there shall be substituted the words “ a reduction of five per cent, per annum. ” Lighth.—lnstead of the words “ S per cent, per annum,” in the last line of Rule 43, there shall be substituted the words “ 12 per cent, per annum.”' Ninth.—lnstead of the words “ three pounds ten shillings per annum,” in Rule 46, there shall 1 ® substituted the words “ five per cent, per uimum. w
