MAILS CLOSE. Per s,s. Tararua, on Wednesday, January 20, as under:— Direct mails for India, China, Japan, Penang, Singapore, Manilla, Aden, Mauritius, the British, French, and Austrian Post Offices at Alexandria, Malta, Gibraltar, Brindisi, France, &c., at 12 noon. For New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania, at 1 p.m. For Southland, Victoria, London via Southampton, and via Brindisi, and for correspondence for the Continent of Europe, &c., sent in London mails, at 1 3J p.m. For issue of money orders and posting of registered letters and newspapers, at 11.30 a.m. Late letters, with one additional single rate per letter, may be posted as follows : For New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania, at 1.30 p.m. For Southland, Victoria, London, via Southampton and via Brindisi, and for correspondence for the Continent of Europe, &c., sent in London mails, at 2 p.m. _ N.B.—Letters, &c., intended for transmission by this mail, must be specially addressed via Suez. There will bo a mail despatched from this office, for Martin’s Bay, ou Monday, January 25, at 6 a.m. The steamer Wonga is expected to leave Auckland at 10 a.m. on Wei.esday, the 20th inat. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe, via Java cable, will be received at the Telegraph Office, Dunedin, for transmission to Auckland, up till 8.15 a.m. to-morrow. The Albion is expected to leave Hokitika on the 21st, and telegrams for transmission by her will be received at the Telegraph Office, Dunedin, up to 8.15 a.m. on that day. A.
