The number of members is increasing. In the calender published in lanuary. 1874 that is for the year 1873—the list of degrees included the names of sixteen persons admitted ad ermdem In this year’s calender —that is during 1874--they have risen to twenty-seven The number of matriculated students in 1873 was twenty-nine. It is now thirty-six ihe affiliated institutions in 1873 were four; they are now six. Ip 1873 there were three undergraduate holders of scholarships ; there are now twelve, of the thirty-six undergraduates one D a thirdyear man. and must ther fore very shortly become the first candidate for a degree. Eight are in their second year, and the remainder in their first. There must be a mistake somewhere, as regards two of the students, for they are put down as boipg in their first year although their names appear in the very first published Hist of matriculated students, so far back as the c’oseof 1872, We observe that of those who enter a large proportion do not continue through the full course. Of seventeen matriculated students whose names appear in the calendar of 1873 all but one appear again in the calendar of 1874 ; but the names of five only are to be found in that of 1875. Of twentvnine students at the close of the year 1873, twelve dropped out in 1874 Of the thirty’ six now on the list nineteen were added dur ing ’he last year, of whom ten are winners of scholarships. Two of the thirty-six are studying at the Canterbury College, five at Christ’s College, e’ght at Auckland College, two at Nelson College three atjtfae Otago University, and the remaining sixteen under private tuition.
